Holistic Dentistry

Focused on Sleep Health and Sleep Apnea

Philosophy

My philosophy is to empower patients with education to investigate and understand their dental health. By creating a comfortable and relaxing dental experience, individuals look forward to their dental visit, and are motivated to take better care of their oral health. The mouth is extremely important as it is literally the gateway or opening into the human body. The bacterial flora in your mouth affects the health of your body, linking to illnesses such as Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes. Your teeth contribute to proper speech, nutrition, preservation of facial bone structure, and your psychological and overall wellness. I believe in preventative education and comprehensive customized care to fulfill individualistic needs and motivate patients to restore and maintain their oral health. I recognize the prevalence of dental anxiety and fear and hope to change that by creating a comfortable, calm, and caring experience so patients can look forward to their dental visit.

Education

“Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere” – Chinese Proverb  My father cultivated in me a thirst for knowledge at a young age and I allowed my curiosity to guide my life path. This led to diversified education and experiences, to bring unique perspectives toward dentistry. Fascinated towards science and healing of the human body, I started my journey studying Biochemistry at the University of Windsor. The curiosity for exploring my entrepreneurial and creative side led me to pursue a Masters of Business at the Odette School of Business. Combining the two, and recognizing the significant of the mouth as the gateway to the human body, brought me to Dentistry at the University of Toronto Doctor of Dental Surgery. I continue to enhance my knowledge and understanding of oral health and modern dentistry through courses, seminars, and workshops so that patients can have healthy teeth and mouths for the rest of their life.

Additional Skills

I love to share my passion and knowledge of health and wellness to help individuals thrive in my local and dental community. For over 10 years, yoga became a lifestyle as it helped me find “balance” in handling life’s challenges from the academic world to the corporate world and to the dental world. This led me to become a Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher and explore other wellness modalities such as Mindful Meditation, The Art of Positive Thinking, and Plant Based Nutrition. I love to share what I have learned to help others thrive, founding the Dental Student Society Wellness Committee at the Faculty of Dentistry University of Toronto, providing yoga workshops to dental professionals, teaching yoga to my local community, and incorporating a holistic approach to dentistry.

Community Outreach

Everyone should have access to dental care; therefore, I am drawn to servicing remote areas to address dental accessibility challenges.    I spent the last year working in the small and remote town of Geraldton, Ontario in Northern Canada where I provided dental service to many of the indigenous communities in the surrounding areas and from fly-in reservations. My intention is to continue to help and empower underserviced communities with limited access to dental care by providing dental services, resources, and education.

Extra-Curricular

When I am not practicing dentistry, I can be found on the trails with my two dogs or out on the water with my paddle board. When I am not practicing dentistry, my other passion is to teach and practice yoga and advance my knowledge in wellness and nutrition. Stay tuned for yoga offerings in Sechelt with me.
